DOWEL JONES (VIC)
Dowel Jones is a design studio operating out of Melbourne, Australia. The studio was set up in 2013 by Dale Hardiman and Adam Lynch, who are two thirds of LAB DE STU, an independent Melbourne based design collective. Dowel Jones is interested in simplifying objects to their bare essentials, without compromising on aesthetic values and while also minimising materials and processes, working with manufacturers involved in the development of everyday materials and objects.

SWING
Designed completely around the manufacturing process, Swing is a single-material sand-cast aluminium stool aimed at using geometry to maximise the liquid metal flow when casting. The simple and minimal detailing in its external geometry and structure allows the stool to be thin and lightweight in comparison to the material. Swing is minimal in its design language, with the seat extending down with a fluid move that seamlessly integrates the most important point of structure at each corner of the leg. Left completely raw with little to no post-finishing, the rawness of the production process compliments the complexity of the design against the simplicity of the process.
