HENRY WILSON WITH BENJA HARNEY + BIANCA CHANG (NSW)
Henry Wilson Studio is located near Sydney’s industrial waterfront. The studio is currently focused on locally produced furniture and lighting. Many items are available as self-build components or fully resolved in-house pieces.
The collection continues to grow organically; committed to honestly resolved concepts with a focus on longevity.
Bianca Chang is a Sydney-based designer and paper artist. Benja Harney is a self-taught Paper Engineer also living and working in Sydney.
Through his studio, Paperform, he engineers high-end pop-up books and crisp paper constructions that span a variety of applications: fine art, advertising, magazine illustration, fashion and packaging.
PAPERWEIGHT LIGHT
The Paperweight project grew from Henry Wilson’s interest in adaptable elements. His A-joint, a modular furniture building component, has been interpreted in the hands of designers and makers in many unique ways. The Paperweight Light consists of two bronze cones that pinch sheet material together to cast a shade of varying sizes and shapes. Henry invited Benja Harney and Bianca Chang, experts in paper, to interpret his idea in their own practice. The resulting works have revealed two very different approaches to the medium and craft.
